★ INTRODUCTION ★

A number of years ago, I had 2 very special cats; who after a number of visits to various shelters and cat adoption forums, have proven to be irreplaceable. And even though they are no longer are with me, they continue to teach me things about giving hope and loving unconditionally.

My visits to various shelters and programs, encouraged and fostered by my old cats, has made me aware of the need for fosters.

So, here my journey begins ...

The other day, I went to Best West on St. James to visit a lil guy named Jack. As I knelt down to stroke Jack through the bars of his cage, I felt a paw tapping me on my head. I looked up and this TOO cute for words cat was reaching out, as if to say, "Hey! What about me!" Her name was Zoey, a bi-color domestic short haired (Grey Tuxedo). Well, you know I just had to hold and she melted in my arms. But then there was Jack, who was also staring up at me, feeling quite slighted Im sure!

The ultimate decision to foster - came to in a rushing revelation. I couldnt take them both home, but I couldnt leave them both behind! It occurred to me, that while Zoey and Jack were well adjusted to life at Best West, there were many cats who were not adjusted to shelter life. Cats who, come in scared and are stressed out. Cats, that need to learn to trust, learn to love - just simply learn to be.

I want to help those cats; cats who will grow into Zoey's and Jack's. Who, when someone comes to visit them, will simply melt hearts and conjure moist tears, and wont be left behind.

This blog, is an effort to bring further awareness to those that are interested in adopting, fostering or even buying a new pet.

If you are considering any of these; please remember that a pet is a huge responsibility. Always visit your local shelter and get more information before making the final decision. AND - while you're there (and absolutely sure about getting a pet), check and see if they have a pet that melts your heart and fits just right.
